I cut a printout of a photo in quarters and used a different medium to paint over each section in this self-portrait. Click to enlarge.

I did this page in one of my altered text books as my Art on the Couch last night. The text reads, “One hand over his heart.” The window is a rubber stamp I just finished carving. It’s about 6″ tall. I love windows and doors so I decided a window would be a stamp I would use in my journal a lot.

The theme this month over at True North Arts
is serendipity and synchronicity.  Kathryn made a wonderful  compass in her journal and invites us to make our own or to write about serendipity, synchronicity, or both. I had to make a compass for myself. It didn’t scan very well. The background is a mix of blues and greens but seems to have lost all the greens in the scan. I may try to photograph it tomorrow, but I’m usually pretty useless with the camera. Anyway, have a look at my compass and then head on over to True North Arts and see what it’s all about. If you participate, you might even win a prize.

For the hands page, I copied some hand sketches from my old sketchbook, added a scan of my own hand, and my hand-carved hand stamp. I like the way it turned out.
