Book ‘Em, challenge #19

August 13th, 2009 | Categories: Altered Art, Challenges, General, Other Crafts, collage

I just made this new journal, which I’m tickled with. I used the cover of a vintage children’s book, which I’ve had in my stash for a while. I glued a fabric strip to reinforce the spine and bound the pages into it with the long stitch method. I glued a few snippets from inside the book to the front cover and I glued some of the pages from the book and some magazine clippings into the inside covers and embellished with my hand-carved stamps. I’ll probably add to the outside and inside covers as I use the journal. This is my entry for challenge #19 at Order of the Opus Gluei where the theme is Book ‘Em!

Love how you added the clipping of faces showing different emotions. Language is so much more than words! Perfect cover for an art journal – images and words, implicit and explicit!

I really love this! What kind of paper did you use and what will you use the journal for? One of these days I am going to make me a journal, with sewn in signatures. That way I can put in the paper I want and at the size I like. Thank you for sharing. Fantastic job!

Well Congrat on winning!!! I can see that you had fun with this. What type of paper did you use? Did you add the fabric to the inside or outside of the spine?
